I was on radio (fm) hosting many shows in the past I always favorited Prog rock, but I was taken off the air because of that.... Now that happen about 5 years ago, since I've been doing a lot of podcasts for the fun of it. But recently the same station manger that fired me , started talking to me again he wants me to do a show again, he gave a framework to work within' , the manager not being a fan of Prog , in fact he 's more an ol'fart that got off on AM radio back in the "70's. Now (cjmq.fm which the link also for their web page) is a soft rock station but with some room to choose your tunes, especial in my case because I intend to pre -record each show of mine at home.
Now I'll give you the link to download my first demo I intend to give him , I need your opinion for that show (the download link is at the bottom of the page)
my attentions for the show are toplay all these radio friendly tunes but to slip in a few prog songs, remember the show is being broadcast in Canada ,so there are certain rules I have to follow , mostly the Canadian content (35% what is being broadcast has to be considered Canadian content).

I agree with progholic....Devin Townsend for 24 hours a day. Seriously, have you heard Addicted? I can't get it out of my CD player.
Tullman - I check out your demo later tonight. Sounds like a pretty cool opportunity - great for you!

Yes please!!! Play Devin Townsend all day long!!! He's got sooo..... much to say to us musically. Play Addicted, play Ziltoid, play Synchestra, play Infinity play everything he has ever created.
For you fans who might not know about Devin's punk rock approach, grab Punky Bruster-Devin's hillarious punk rock album. Don't like punk rock? Give it a try. It's pure Devin.
Back to the radio "things". Play Saga once a while, James LaBrie-solo stuff, play Mind Gallery-Vancouver based instrumental progressive rock band.
For those who like heavier stuff play Bison BC.
Message for you "Progholic", grab Devin's SYL album "Heavy as a really heavy thing" put it in you car's CD player and listen. That's the album which has changed the world of a real music for ever.

devin towensend ....hmmmm! i only know the album TERRiA (i may have spellled it wrong) that album didn't make me a fan,,,but if you think he has material that i could play on radio tell me what album I'll check it out .... as for the demo I uploaded , the station manger found it too heavy so I need to find material more acoustic I'm looking into PT and even some more softer songs by TFK, moon safari maybe blackmore's night or even some older YEs and Peter Gabriel for the next demo.

Tullman - sorry to derail this post with DT stuff. Someone asked me last night to describe the "Addicted" CD, and I said...."Abba meets Rob Zombie". There's really nothing else quite like it. It's definitely heavy like Terria, but with a dance beat, and great female vocals.
Listening to your demo right now...

I listen to D Townsend interview he did on Morrow , (good work by the way Bruno, comme on dit ici t'as fait une bonne jobb

Tullman - you're demo brought back some great memories of listening to college radio when I lived in Bangor, Maine (remember the King Biscuit Flour Hour?).
April Wine - great underrated band.
Pendragon - what a pleasant surprise!
Easy Street - great and nearly-forgotten classic rock song (I'm a big fan of Johnny Winter, and used to try to emulate his playing when I was younger).
Convoy - too damn funny! Wait...do you actually get requests for that?
Thanks for sharing this with us.

i bought a whole bunch of CD's from bands that played on on the king biscuit flour hour,,man those we're great concert's and yes I use to get tonnes of request for convoy after I playedthe 45 by mistake one morning , after that a lotta truckers would phone in when I did the morning show weekdays

Tullman, I know that a lots of DT songs sound heavy and agressive, but there is also a lots of a musical beauty behind that, a lots of great layers of melodies. People new to DT would need some time to get used to that sound, and the compositios. But once you they get that, they would never regret.
Anyway, DT has released tons of material, and on each one of his CD there are a few songs which are "radio friendly".
The first one which really caught me a few years ago, was "The death of music" from the album BIOMECH. (Ocean Machine)
Anyway, Canada has a lots to offer. So don't worry, with "our help" you will be able to play only Canadiens. Well, plus the non Canadians like Genesis and Yes-oops -even the new Yes singer for is Canadian guy.

Great show under these conditions, Tullman! Was it really Bassman at the end? I like your announcements (and those of your dog) so i could even enjoy the Hollies! But what were those 3 tracks you played before Roadhouse Blues?
Sorry for the opinion of this manager (guess because of the 3 tracks i'm asking for), but if this show was too heavy i fear there will be nothing else but your beloved Styx to be played... ![]()

those song's were by a band by the name of GODDO from Toronto same genre what was coming of Toronto in the '70;s ex:Rush ,Triumph ,spirit of Xmas....etc
it might have been those three but he didn't like the discovery part about Frank Marino because in his opinion I was encouraging drug use by telling his story...(narrow minded idiot), yes that was our beloved Bassman at the end I slipped that one in the end just for morrow's forum readers ![]()

Bangor ...hmmm! for some odd reason I thought you were from Lewiston or even dover-foxcroft, Maine....maybe it's because I often used to go to those two towns in Maine .

here is the next demo I'lll present, it's softer format but I like it better it leaves me more room for prog rock ,if he accepts it. The real demo has an hour and forty five minutes( gotta leave room to insert the adds), but on this upload I left out the discovery part of the show which is about thirty minutes so what you have left is less then 80 minutes so you can download this demo and burn it on CD if you wish.

Tullman - I grew up in northern Maine, went to college in Bangor, and moved to Mass. (just outside Boston) in 1976 for work. I've been trying to get back there ever since. My college roommate was from the Lewiston area.
I'll check out your next demo tonight hopefully.
Love Johnny Winter!

Not my cup of tea, but I would tune in anyway because I know I'm going to hear stuff I've never heard before. Definitely old school though.

I apreciate your opinion and I agree it's old school , but I want to do it that way purposely...

Happy to discover that you've much more than Styx to play. Like your show too. Interesting and varied mixture with some unknown ingredients. Wonder who were the musicians on a great track (the least soft one) you played. But i'm a bit taken aback about that what you said about PT. Is it because of the fact that they are more popular or because of the metal parts in their music that you are less attracted than in the past?
